Wednesday was our last day in Adelaide. We didn’t have anything scheduled, so we had a lazy morning and then headed out on the tram to see the botanical gardens. It was a beautiful spring day and the gardens were in full bloom. It was great to see locals using the gardens for birthday parties, reading, and relaxing.

The giant lily pads were really cool!
We had planned to return to the South Australia Museum to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit, so we were pleasantly surprised to find that part of the exhibit was in the botanical gardens. You can see many of the photographs here: https://www.botanicgardens.sa.gov.au/wildlife-photographer-of-the-year

After the gardens, we went to see the rest of the photography exhibit. We then had about 30 minutes before the museums closed for the day. I went to see some of the exhibits in the South Australia Museum we hadn’t seen yet and Rich did a quick walk through the art museum next door.

We had dinner and a last walk through the city back to our hotel.

We enjoyed our time in Adelaide. I would compare it to a city like Milwaukee, I think. There are plenty of interesting things to see and do there, but it is not necessarily a place that attracts a lot of tourists for vacations, except for its proximity to two wine regions. That said, our tour guide said the Adelaide arts festival is the second largest in the world (Edinburgh is the largest), so I’m sure that attracts a lot of tourists. Unfortunately, we just missed the city’s massive Dumpling Festival, which starts this weekend.
Next stop is Kangaroo Island!
