It was too windy again today to go snorkeling–in fact, the tour company did not go out yesterday or today because of the wind advisories. We puttered around town a bit, stocking up on toiletries at the chemists in the local mall, and then lazed around. I had the pool mostly to myself until late afternoon, which was lovely.

We have an early flight tomorrow, so we packed up and now I’m enjoying the sunset from the balcony while I write this before we head to dinner. We again happen to be in a town for fireworks–tonight Cairns is having its 150th celebration fireworks. I don’t think they will be anywhere as elaborate as Brisbane’s River Fire was, but I think we’ll be able to watch them from our balcony, which will be nice.

Tomorrow we leave the state of Queensland, which is where we’ve been since we arrived, and fly to the Northern Territory. We will be visiting Uluru, aka Ayres Rock, which is in what the Australian tourism department calls the Red Center. Instead of the sea and the rainforest, expect pictures of the desert in tomorrow’s post!

We also found one more thing in Australia that will kill you–o.k., actually just me, since I’m allergic to soy.
