We started our Saturday by taking the bus to the west side of Brisbane to check out the farmers market in Davies Park. It is a large and vibrant market with spectacular produce stands, tons of food vendors, and all of the other usual farmers market fare. We arrived early and were able to have breakfast and browse the stands before the crowds arrived.

Next we headed to the Cultural Center to take in an exhibit about . . .

It was a very well done exhibit. A highlight was the Be Crocwise public awareness campaign video, which is truly worth a watch.

The exhibit only made me moderately terrified for our upcoming snorkeling tours.

After exploring the rest of the Queensland Museum, we checked out the nearby Gallery of Modern Art.

While in the area, we also checked out Fish Lane, which has more cool street art.

Brisbane has been unseasonably warm for the past few days, so we headed back to the hotel for some pool and relaxation time before dinner.

We happen to be here for the beginning of the Brisbane Festival, which is a multi-week arts festival. It was officially kicked off last night with Riverfire, a massive fireworks display. Fireworks doesn’t really do it justice, as it also included synchronized images on various skyscrapers. Very cool!
